שלב שלישי - בחזרה לענינים, 8 בערב: קריאת המאמר הראשון - ביקורת סמויה (ולא כל כך סמויה?) על הכרזת האוניברסיטה של וושינגטון על כוונה להעשיר חלקים מהקורסים שהיא מפתחת עבור קורסרה coursera ולאפשר לסטודנטים לקבל עליהם קרדיט (בתנאי שישלמו...). הזמן שלוקח למי שאינו דובר אנגלית שפת אם לקרוא מאמר אחד כזה שווה ערך לחמישה?

שלב רביעי - נסיון להבין מה זה סטוריפיי באמצעות הסיפור שמזכיר אותי.  אולי זה יוביל לבניית סיפור משלי.

כלי ליצירת סיפור המשלב טקסט מקורי עם ציוצים וקטעים מתוך חומר דיגיטלי של  אחרים. כנראה...

המשימה

1. Create a Storify document that reflects what you’ve learned during MOOC MOOC thus far. (If you are unfamiliar with Storify, read How to Storify. Why to Storify. for some helpful ideas.)
2. When your document is complete, tweet about it under the hashtag #moocmooc and include a link.
3. Follow #moocmooc throughout the day to see other participants’ Storify articles. Read carefully, and assess in the comments section of their document. You can also “like” individual components that you find particularly cool or persuasive.
4. Join the Assessments and Outcomes discussion in the course and contribute your thoughts about your own criteria for assessing today’s assignment, as well your ideas about assessments and outcomes in MOOCs.

1. Create your own conversation around the topic of participant pedagogy. Do this by writing an article on your own blog or, if you don't have a blog, by starting a thread in the discussion forum within this course.
2. Establish the space, provide the tools, and provoke your audience to respond. Announce and link to your post on Twitter w/ hashtag #moocmooc and hashtag #post (to help people search and avoid spambots). If you haven’t already, submit a link to your blog’s RSS feed via this Google form.
3. Then, seek out the spaces of your peers and populate them. To find them, search #moocmooc on Twitter or check Dashboard. Ask questions and answer questions. 
4. Do something unscripted.

1. Make a 1-3 minute video. A video lecture or a digital story.

2. Answer or engage the question: Where does learning happen? (or, any of the other questions above).
3. To accomplish this, you could: run out and get a film production degree and professional equipment (expensive); shoot some footage on a flip camera, webcam, or phone and edit right within YouTube (free); shoot on an iPad or iPhone and edit with iMovie ($4.95); write a brief script and animate it in xtranormal (free - $$).
4. If you don’t have a surplus of time, think on your feet. For example, you could decide to give yourself no more than 1 hour to script, shoot, edit, and upload your video.
5. Upload to YouTube and share a link to the video on Twitter using hashtag #moocmooc.
6. Find the videos of your peers and engage in a dialogue about them in the comment-space on the videos.

This experience is meant to be fun, playful, and entertaining; but it’s also intended to give us a look at what it means to collaborate online. By the end of the exercise, you and your cohort will have discussed what a MOOC can be, while participating in an activity made possible only within the MOOC environment.

We’ll start MOOC MOOC by working synchronously and asynchronously to co-create a single short essay about MOOCs, a wild experiment in mass-collaboration.

One day. A mass of folks in a Google Doc. 1 essay.

If you’re new to Google Docs, and want a bit of helpful advice, take a look at Jesse Stommel’s article, Theorizing Google Docs: 10 Tips for Navigating Online Collaboration. Here are a couple of important highlights:

“A potential pitfall of this sort of work is a variation of the bystander effect, whereby participants will see a problem or gap in the document but assume someone else will fix it. The more collaborators involved, the more the effect is amplified.” So, make sure to jump in where you see you’re needed!

“Embrace chaos. There is something slightly crazy about a shared writing space, especially when there are more than 2 contributing authors. A Google Doc can seem to write itself, a new digital ecosphere that bubbles with lively and chaotic energy. I’m frequently startled when I leave a Google Doc to realize that it will go on without me. If you haven’t collaborated within a Google Doc ... Don’t be surprised when weird and sometimes wondrous things begin to happen.”

Ready? Set. Go!

Instructions:
1. Consider these questions: What is a MOOC? What does it do, and what does it not do?
2. Collaborate as a group (a potentially very large group) in this document to write one exactly 1000-word essay that responds to both questions. (For a word count at any point, highlight the body of the essay, then go to Tools > Word Count in the main menu.)
3. Somewhere in the essay, reference (quote or cite) each of the following articles:

• Let's Talk about MOOC (online) Education--And Also About Massively Outdated Traditional Education (MOTEs) - by Cathy Davidson
• What’s the Matter with MOOCs? - by Siva Vaidhyanathan
• The Language of MOOCs - by Audrey Watters

4. Include (and attribute) a single picture chosen via http://search.creativecommons.org/.
5. Revise and title the finished essay. Keep these instructions at the top of the document.

All this before 6:00 PM Eastern time.

Hello! Thank you for pre-registering for Hybrid Pedagogy’s MOOC MOOC. Beginning tonight, Saturday August 11th, at midnight Eastern time, you will be able to enter the course.

A few words before you do:

1. The MOOC is set within the Canvas LMS. If you are unfamiliar with Canvas, plan to spend just a little time on your first day orienting yourself. Much of the course will take place outside of the LMS, but discovering your way around the course will help you keep up with the activities throughout the week.
2. MOOC MOOC is an experiment. As such, we welcome you to explore, hypothesize and test, and report your results right along with the rest of us. It’s a MOOC designed for knowledge creation, not knowledge consumption, so feel free to mix, stir, and pour at will.
3. Throughout the week, plan to post, message, tweet, and otherwise share your thoughts about MOOC MOOC everywhere you usually communicate with your networks.

We would like to thank the English and Digital Humanities program at Marylhurst University, the Writing and Communication Program at Georgia Tech, Instructure, and the folks at ProfHacker. In this week-long experimental online course, we'll be investigating exactly what it means to participate in, create, and even envision a MOOC (massive open online course). We'll be questioning what a MOOC is, how useful this educational format can be, and the new and innovative opportunities toward which it points.

היום מתחיל שבוע השתתפות בקורס מפרש נסיוני המכונה MOOC MOOC.

This experimental course will take place August 12th through 18th. We’re writing today to let you know a little more about the course.

August 12th will be your day to get acclimated. You’ll have a chance to familiarize yourself with the Canvas LMS that serves as the launching pad for MOOC MOOC. You’ll also want to browse the profiles of the other participants -- your co-conspirators -- so you know who you’ll be working alongside during the week. We’ll also provide some reading material to get you prepped, so you’re ready to hit the ground running on Monday. 

And we do mean running. Condensing something as expansive as a MOOC into six short days is a challenge from the instructional end... But that’s nothing compared to the MOOC olympics you’ll be inventing, collaborating, improvising, and conversing your way through during those six days. Prepare to be involved -- to participate, create, deconstruct, and re-create -- from opening bell Monday morning, to happy hour on Friday. (Saturday is more of a feet-on-the-desk, wearing-pajamas kind of day.)

You’ll probably spend 1-2 hours each day with MOOC MOOC, ideally little morsels of time spread liberally throughout your other activities and work; however, don’t fret if you can’t commit that much time. There are lots of ways to approach a MOOC, whether as a participant or even just as a lurker. Jump into the course when you can, and you’ll see lots of different options for how to engage.

So, what can you expect?

Each day will include:

• A short prompt or video to get you started;
• One or two collaborative exercises that will ask you to bend your mind away from your preconceived notions of MOOCs, and toward new ideas and potentials;
• Plenty of opportunities to “talk back” to the course material, to one another, and to us, your slightly insane hosts;
• An implicit (or explicit) expectation that you will Tweet, blog, Tumblr, Facebook, and otherwise let your ideas about MOOCs and MOOC MOOC bleed into the Internet.

Please note: You will need both a Twitter and a Google account to fully participate!

It’s going to be exciting, extemporaneous, and daring... And we’re happy you’re along for the ride. To jump-start your thinking about MOOC MOOC, you are welcome to join us for a Twitter discussion tomorrow focused on the use, abuse, and potentials of the video lecture. David Stavens, CEO of Udacity, will be joining us for the chat as our special guest.
